Apple cider
Cherry cider
Pear juice
Cranberry juice
Orange juice
Apricot juice
Pineapple juice
Pomegranate juice
Mixture of above juices
Black tea
Red wine

Any of these make an excellent mulled beverage, however try mixing several together for a delicious change of pace.

Best Method for Mulling
The easiest method for making a lot of a mulled beverage is to make it in the crock pot. Any mulled drink can be made in the crock pot, although it is especially important not to let wine boil.

Simmer the mulled spices recipe of choice in four cups of the drink you have chosen. If it is not sweetened, add up to ¾ of a cup of brown sugar, maple sugar, honey or white sugar. Simmer for three hours or more and serve hot.

If you are making your own muslin bags for the mulling spices use organic cotton or muslin, and make sure that the string, or ribbon, that you use for the drawstring is food grade. Also, always get organic fruits, spices and herbal products when possible.

Mulled spices are wonderful gifts, and make any wintry day seem special.

Samplers give customers a way to take home a wide variety of certain teas and try 3 cups of them before buying a larger amount of loose tea. Since tea can be steeped more than once, the samplers actually give the customer 36 samples of loose tea if they choose to steep each one twice. Green Tea can ususally be steeped three times.

Is our location an actual tea room? Well, that depends on your definition of a tea room. When some people think of a tea room, images of fine china cups, scones and high tea come to mind. Many think of tea rooms as a place to order light sandwiches and salads to accompany their cup of tea. We usually refer to our place as a tea bar or tea shop.

The dictionary defines a tea room as – A tea house or tearoom is a venue centered on drinking tea. Its function varies widely depending on the culture, and some cultures have a variety of distinct tea-centered houses or parlors that all qualify under the English language term “tea house” or “tea room”.

So, if you go by the dictionary, we are officially a tea room. Do we serve scones and cucumber sandwiches? No, not exactly. Most tea drinkers drop by our Nashville tea room cup for a quick cup of tea. Our facilities do not accomodate a full restaurant style setup – but we do offer granola bars, power bars, biscotti and fruit.

Also, many think of tea rooms as a female only environment. Our tea bar appeals equally to both men and women who are interested in drinking and buying good quality tea. Some customers bring sandwiches or salads with them at lunch time and purchase a cup of tea to go with it. Have children with you who turn their little noses up at the thought of tea? Not to worry – we also have bottled water, coke and diet coke available.

So, no – you’re not going to find freshly baked scones in our Nashville tea room. But you will find a wide variety of flavorful teas and herbs waiting for you. Serious tea drinkers call our type of tea room a place to get ” a good cuppa anytime”. Cuppa, cool word.

The listing for our tea room on www.teaguide.net is described below:

Green Pergola began selling loose teas and herbs in 2004. When we met the owner of Tea for Two and More at the Nashville flea market, a friendship began. Later when the opportunity presented itself to rent retail space, Tea for Two and More and Green Pergola rented the storefront inside the One2Yoga building in Donelson, TN.

At this time, Green Pergola dropped teas and herbs from their line of products and focused completely on aromatherapy products and soaps, making room for Tea for Two to run the tea side of the storefront. For three years, the two companies worked side by side, serving loose tea and selling soaps and essential oils.

In August 2009, Tea for Two and More made the decision to focus completely on their internet business, as well as the wonderful idea of having a traveling tea bar – setting up a tea service at various locations on demand. In order to achieve this goal, the tea company gave up the rented storefront.

When this occurred, Green Pergola returned to the business of selling loose teas and herbs. Cups of tea are served every day in our Nashville tea bar. Teas range from: black tea, oolong tea, green tea, herbal blended teas, rooibos tea, yerba mate and herbs. Customers can walk in the store and choose from any of the available teas or choose to have several types blended together to create the perfect cup, steeped to order. In addition to the teas is Bonjo Java coffee and Green Pergola house blend coffee.

The remodeling has also brought an added feature to our Nashville tea bar — free wifi. Free internet access is exactly what the store needed, allowing the serious tea and coffee drinker to relax with their favorite cup right beside their laptop.

At present, the tea bar seats 12 people inside and another 10 outside, weather permitting. There are future plans to add more seating and we encourage our tea drinkers to get to know each other and share table space whenever possible. You never know when you’re about to share a cup of tea with a brand new friend you were destined to meet.

The tea bar is located at:
